I was perusing some articles on the LDS church’s website and found mention of my 3rd Great Grandfather, John Daniel Malan. What follows is the excerpt from the October 1994 General Conference of the aforementioned church. Since our integration with Facebook, we’ve had a lot more people sign up for the site. However, we still have yet to find more than a few users who are interested in what our site has to offer and begin to reach out to the community of family members.
Before we opened up to the Malan Family Community to Facebook, we had a control system that would allow us to approve new users. Since losing that ability, we’ve had a lot more spam and bots signing up for the site. While we kept our members safe by hiding contact information by default because of that problem, it unfortunately led to many people not ever viewing profiles and reaching out to meet Malans around the world. WordPress (and it’s popular social plugin BuddyPress) are aiming to fix that.
